He is right, you know. An adonis is a flower of the family Ranunculaceae, with feathered leaves and red, orange, or yellow blossoms. They're commonly used to symbolize sorrowful memories, or love so deep and true as to transcend death.

.....Or, on a more "dark" note, they are used to represent poisonous words. Your very name could be taken to suggest that you are treacherous or deceitful, or that you harbor terrible memories of a love in a past life that ended in tragedy.

...so he is a flower???

Or is he a liar? I'm confused...

[identity profile] weeatbodies.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
He is not a flower, as far as we understand. However, naming himself after a flower--or mythical figure, as he claims, which informed the naming of the flower anyway--allows us to look at the symbolism underlying the name, and what it could tell about him. It could suggest that he is a liar, or it could not; it's all in your interpretation.

Some people like to be confusing like that. Or make themeslves seem insightful. As for us, we use no nicknames; you can just call us Zetsu.

[identity profile] kauaihula.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, Zetsu. I'm Lilo.

...how come you're calling yourself "us" and "we"?

[identity profile] weeatbodies.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
A pleasure, Lilo. we do that bc ther r 2 of us nsted ofmhbfcxkld

There are two of us within one body, to put it simply.

Does it?

Reminds me of a character from the story~

[identity profile] weeatbodies.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
It does indeed.

Does it, now? We noticed that story, though we thought it more sensible to watch the chaos unfold than take part in it.

[identity profile] mercurialectric.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
It does~ Thank you for the interesting information ♥

You're welcome. Always good to see someone who can appreciate the finer nuances of such things.

Story? What story? Was it a good one?

[identity profile] mercurialectric.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's just below this message on the message board. ♥

[identity profile] kauaihula.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. I'll have to read it sometime then.

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
It is best that you do not. It has upset enough people already.

[identity profile] kauaihula.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Why?

Re: 2/2

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I was not aware that it was a flower. But I meant the meaning that I told you.

Oh, okay.

It is. A rather pretty one, in our opinion, commonly used for beautification and symbolism, and occasionally for the poison a few produce. Which is why we thought it fitting to look into the name a little more deeply. Why exactly did you choose such a charged name, if we may ask, without being fully aware of its meanings?

Re: 2/2

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
I knew of the meaning in terms of mythos, but not of the flower. As I have stated before, I was not aware that such a flower existed.

Re: 2/2

[identity profile] weeatbodies.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's rather odd..... While we had heard the mythos, it specifically mentioned that every drop of blood that fell from Adonis as he lay dying became a beautiful flower, typically thought of as the flower Adonis, but occasionally also believed to be the first red roses that came into existence.

You must have either gotten slip-shod with your researching, or heard an incomplete version somewhere.

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well... I should say that I knew the myth was that Adonis was a handsome man and that is what the meaning of the word now is.
