In my world, verse was commonly sent to and fro on a Valentine's Day, which occurred once a year. It celebrated, primarily, the relationships of lovers, but it was not entirely unheard of that friends should also send gifts or greetings.

The important thing is this: that it emerges in some form, for everyone has some word to add to the song of the world, if each one will will to raise a voice.
