Thanks for your help the other day, Luke.

About this darkness... does anyone know any way to dispel it? I can't get any of my light spells to work for longer than a minute when I go out. I don't have any trouble getting around, but it would be nice if I could actually see things. And I doubt everyone can find their way around like I can. It's certainly some of the most powerful magic I've ever encountered.

Those strange animals are gone, too... lumens, right? I haven't seen a single one since this started.

And it affects this little thing, too. I can only use it inside now.

This is just a joke on the new person, isn't it? You know, that's not very good taste trying to pull that over on a person, especially in these circumstances!

I am known for my jokes, but this is not one of them. Believe me, I'm one hundred and ten percent genie, girlfriend. Chaa~!

I'll have to see it... I really never thought genies actually existed.

What kind of stuff can you do?

You mean you don't believe? Wow, thankfully that whole believing thing doesn't work the same for genies as fairies or there'd be even less of them. Not many people seem to believe in them these days. You should definitely start though! If it takes seeing me for yourself to do so, then so be it! Although the weather might add some complication to that.

What can't I do would be a better question.

The best way to get rid of a spell is to get rid of the one who cast it.

True. I did hear a name mentioned... but this is a very powerful spell to cover an entire city. It's not going to be easy.

Stuff like this is never easy.

Do you have any ideas on where to begin? Except I'm pretty sure this isn't the most secure way of talking about this.

I've studied dark magic and I can use it, but this is on a much bigger scale than I've seen myself.

I know a little magic, but I've mostly only done summoning. Are you a black mage, then?

I think we're using different points of reference here... I'm mostly an elemental mage, but I can do other things too of course. Elemental magic is where I'm strongest, particularly the element of water--my elemental guardian takes the form of a water serpent. Is that the sort of thing you mean by "summoning?"

Black magic is elemental magic where I come from. So you're a summoner, too? That guardian of yours sounds a lot like Leviathan.

They're certainly nothing like anything I have in my world. I bet Cid would love to take one of these apart and see how they work.

That's odd that it's called "black" magic. Is there any particular reason why? And my guardian doesn't exactly have a name; but it is somewhat intelligent.

I don't know why it's called black magic. It's just the way it's always been. Your guardian does sound like Leviathan.

Cid is a friend of mine. He helped us get an airship.

Yes, an airship! They're fun to ride in, although Ingus and Luneth usually do the steering.

These things are tricky to figure out, but they're really fascinating, don't you think? The darkness seems to affect them, too.
