If you realize, Ed's chewing on the communicator. He tried to chew on the trees and fruits earlier, but that didn't work out very well--they weren't real.]

Ed starts up like he's been shocked, and then looks around for Shenzi, turning in circles.]

[Wait, what was the thing he was chewing? Ed has to sniff around for a few seconds before he finds it again. He's looking at it. It just has stuff. He tries pawing at it, to see if anything will change.]

[Ed nods crazily, tongue flapping. He pantomines running by flapping two paws in the air, and then makes a yipping noise. Running to Scar, it says.]

Y'know what Ed? Tell me where you are and I'll come and get you.

[Ed looks around, and it's a few minutes before he responds to Shenzi. He cackles, and almost barks.

Trees. Fruit. Tall stuff.

[It might take a while, she's not completely sure where it was, she only had the vaguest idea.]

[That laugh. Mufasa tenses and frowns.]

[Ed tenses, and then sniffs at the communicator, trying to figure out WHAT it's doing. His tongue lols out, and he licks at it.]

[Ed jumps up, looks around for a second, and then stares intently at the journal, tongue lolling out. His whole expression states; "Food? Food? FOOD?"]

Hyeayahyah! [Scar's his food-supplier. So, food. Now.]

I'm sure Shenzi will explain to you how you can get food.

[Even though he can't see the slobbering sack of stupidity that Shenzi kept around, Scar was really quite used to Ed by now. Just about anything meant that the hyena wanted food, with only a few rare exceptions made for rather specific situations.]
