My world...is ordinary and not so confusing. It's easy to know where the food comes from, for one thing. It's not as complicated either.
It's called Earth. There aren't just cities, but a lot of countryside in other places. And there other places people go to have fun, such as amusement parks.
Where I live is nothing special in particular, but it's peaceful... [Before he goes on about anything more specific, he might as well find out just how different and similar Jake's world is from the boy's.] Do you know of any kind of sports from yours?
Some of the time, it's not bad. [And that's putting it lightly...]
A sport is a type of game in which two teams compete each other. There's all kinds of sports, many of them involve playing with balls. Each one is a different size for its role.
Basketball's my favorite, even though I suck at it half the time... Whenever I'm not swamped with anything else, my friend and I like playing one on one. [There won't likely be basketball ever again if Marco and I aren't out of here real soon, comes a grim thought.]
[Over the occasional noises of the train, light laughter would be heard.]
I found and purchased a ball that's about the same size as a basketball from my world. It's just going to be a little harder to grip.
My friend Marco and I have been wondering where to find a tall basket hoop, where you toss up the ball and score points. We might have to make one, somehow.
[The boy's enthusiasm seems help Jake cope with his homesickness--a little. This kid ain't bad. Poor guy--he's probably very lonely around here.] I don't know if that's going to work out or not, but if it does I could let you know. If we have one more person, it could be an even two on two.
I wish I could show you one, but I haven't seen one anywhere. Only thing I could do is draw a picture of one. The ball I bought doesn't look anything like the real one...
Marco and I could teach you and your friend how to play the game later, if there's any means to have a basket hoop.

What's your world like? It must be really neat if you'd rather go beck than stay here!

Games? I really like games! And playing with balls! Maybe we should play sports here! It'd be a lot of fun!
I'll play any game!
