I'll keep this simple: Demons make humans fear the darkness. And by doing that they keep them in line. In return for that, they get a nice little reward in power by way of Fear Energy.

Now, if you're not doing that... what use are you?

A Judge. I'd explain it to you, but you don't look like the type who likes long, boring stories, and I'm already about to give you an abridged one right now.

Humans torturing one another, putting their needs above others, killing without reason, destroying families, destroying each other, ripping families to pieces, and destroying the ones who don't! And the worst part is, they can't even do it themselves. They have to send everyone else in to do it for them.

If you want to know just how bad things are, then like I said before, ask the kid in the green hoodie. The Prinny Factory was so clogged with sinners that they ran out of hide. I bet you could count the number of good souls on one hand.

Well, sucks to be the prinny factory then, doesn't it? If the humans of that human world want to wipe themselves out, that's their problem. Why should it be up to demons to keep them in line? We have better things to do. Humans need to take responsibility for their own damn messes.
